The BeerSter will be participating in the 2007 Great Race. The Great Race is a Coast to Coast Rally that features old cars, and this year, cars of the future.
The Great Race is 14 days and 4,300 miles of grueling precision driving and brain-busting concentrated navigating. The course is typically held on the back roads of America.
The 2007 Race is the 25th annual event with a cash price of $150,000.00
What: Two-week, 4,000 mile, coast-to-coast competition
When: June 30 – July 14, 2007
Where: Concord, NC – Orange County, CA
Competition:
- Rally Format (time-Speed-Distance)
- Racers compete against the “perfect” time established for racecourse.
- Every second off perfect time, (early or late) at each checkpoint is a penalty point.
- Low score wins
- Navigation instructions are issued each morning; they can include up to 400 separate driving instructions.
- A points-based Scoring system.
Racers:
- Up to 120 teams
- Race teams comprised of a Driver and a Navigator
- Two Divisions; Rookie and Veteran
Race Cars:
- Classic vehicles, 1969 and older. Field includes muscle cars and hot rods
- Hybrid or Alternative powered vehicles
- Two Divisions; Rookie and Veteran
